Max, your remarks about the comfort of being part of an in-group against a villain (etc) were thought provoking for me. It feels like an insight I've been resisting-though it's been creeping up on me for a while. There's pleasure in fighting for a cause and in righteous indignation itself.

You didn’t do anything wrong here. It’s bewildering anyone could claim to be an expert in any sort of psychological field yet have absolutely zero self awareness. The lack of introspection is staggering.

Agree. I had a hard time listening to this. After the hearing issues got resolved, I thought maybe he was making a point of being obtuse, but eventually got the impression he was simply unaware that he was coming off this way. I find I'm actually hesitant to offer further criticism to the extent that I read his... cluelessness (?) as a disability.

Maybe it was a coincidence, but it's the largest drop since I started the Substack, so it's hard to know for sure.

I get the impression that his fondness for Joe Biden and his hatred of Trump, especially his “rudeness”, has to do with the way Trump, and MAGA in general, attacked Biden for his age and mental decline. I think he sees himself in Biden like people see themselves in Trump. Kind of a shot in the dark, but I got that feeling.
