Really? I didn’t care about it too much. I didn’t like that she says things with conviction that simply aren’t true, like ALL people who fantasize about PDF file stuff WOULD 100% do it if they could
Using threats of death or violence is a very common way to commit rape. The fact that this method seem to work so often means most people when push comes to shove actually prefer to be raped over being killed, and in a lot of cases also over being beaten or hurt in some other way.
I suggest that almost anyone could be raped at gunpoint, people really don't want to die.
I'm not saying rape isn't horrible. But this notion that it's worse than anything else has to be some kind of confusion. It's like sexual offences are put into their own category where any comparison to things not in that category are deemed suspect.
I think this is a remnant of mankinds historical obsession with womens virginity. The old patriarchal view where women are damaged goods after sex is now being repurposed into our view of rape. It's the same old objectification of women now disguised as a progressive moral virtue.
Yes, I agree. It's particularly insidious because "rape is the worst thing ever" is framed as protecting women, when it's more likely protecting and commodifying their innocence.
Very often, i find my girlfriend exceptionally beautiful, moreso than nice scenery where we live or other women here. And whenever that pop of "oh! She's quite lovely isn't she?" went off in my head, I would say this. I was taught to react this way to my thoughts in childhood by my parents. And whenever i had some pop of "oh, i don't like this/ I don't like that color/ i'd rather go do something else" I would say that as well. I thought I was giving actionable feedback. And I would say something nice five or six times as often as something negative, because i was really happy with how things were generally. Well, little did I know, I said nice things so often that my girlfriend became numb to them. They didnt have any meaning, and she didn't feel anything good or encouraging from them. She did however, feel the full force of the criticisms, usually one a day. So every day she would have some new complaint she would feel bad about all day. I only intended to be open about how i experienced things, hoping to invite her to do the same, but reciprocation wasn't even a thought because she was too worried about me saying she used too much sauce on the dinner, when it was meant only to be a small note for next time to use slightly less sauce.
Max I think you're right, the actress made herself to be raped in a way. or, you could argue the economy did. If the male actor refused to do the scene with the woman who intended to do it before, during, meant to do it after being impaired, and a replacement could not be found, nobody would be paid like you said. And if a whole set of workers is not paid, that is real harm. The woman took the drugs to remove the mental harm to herself that doing this would cause, and to refuse the scene would cause more harm. She was choosing that over not being paid. So in that instance, yeah I think the guy probably did the right thing. it's pretty fucked that he still enjoyed it, but we're all pretty fucked sometimes. And honestly the entire situation, and industry sounds totally fucked. not just the individual choices of a few people. The fact that it's so common for this job to be so damaging mentally that the actresses get blazed so they aren't aware of what's happening to them is terrible. But the alternative of all these people being completely destitute is also totally fucked. Many big businesses are like this, that use horrible business practices to get money from customers, and pay the laborers just enough to survive. I guess the only solution is to stop supporting the big buisnesses and if you're gonna use the industry, try to support laborers directly to cut out the middleman optimizing profits at the expense of laborer's wellbeing.
This was a really great episode.

I don't agree with everything she said but I really enjoyed hearing her tell her story and perspective.
Many other comments like that from her as well
Consciousness survives death. Of this you have no doubt that it is true.

this is a dumb argument - Porn doesn't lead to CSM.
abuse is high in society, higher than people think
but if porn led to CSM and CSA in general it would be way more prevalent.
this idea that decadence/bordem also - then next leads to abusing underage kids is also !@$#'ing R@#$T#$d.
otherwise good conversation, thanks for calling in Joolz.

Seeing a granny, tatted up, knitting the blanket to go over her coffin is the most metal way I've ever seen a podcast start!
